Westray Engineering manufactures and supplies twistlocks for use in:

• port container handling facilities (ie, for straddle carriers and ship loading/unloading cranes).
• truck & trailer applications (ie securing a container onto a truck for road freight).
  

Westray currently manufactures over twenty different styles of twistlocks and ten styles of nuts. Materials used are either 4140, 4340 or EN25, depending on application and Safe Working Load requirements. Only steel sourced from European, Japanese or North American steel mills is used. At shipping ports, each container is lifted by a spreader that attaches to the top of the container and therefore, every twistlock is loaded in tension. This makes them a critical item requiring them to be:

• made of high alloy steel
  
• forged, machined and heat treated to exacting standards
• 100% non destructively tested (ultrasonic and MPE); and
• proof loaded to twice the safe working load.
  

Each twistlock is then given a unique identification number for traceability purposes.

Westray can also provide forged trailer eye bolts.
