SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

As part of the global economy, it is essential that Westray be able to supply its customers with competitively priced components, manufactured to the required level of quality, in an acceptable time frame. For a number of years now, Westray has sought to expand its supplier base so as to be able to meet these objectives.

No longer is it commercially viable to rely solely on Australian manufacturing to be competitive. In the face of cheaper imports from Asia, it is essential to have a range of supplier companies that can meet the total requirements for each customer. In some cases, Westray can still manufacture parts competitively and continues to do so. In other cases where price competition is higher, we source parts from a range of proven Asian suppliers.

Control of the total supply chain is an essential part of Westray’s business. This includes initial supplier evaluation for capability, quality assurance and price competitiveness, preparation of bi-lingual documentation covering the total product, packaging and delivery specifications, regular on site quality audits by Westray’s QA Manager and close and ongoing cooperation with our freight forwarder. By our attention to such detail, we have developed a number of reliable supplier companies overseas, that augment what we manufacture at our Caringbah factory.

All products supplied by Westray Engineering are covered by the full Westray performance warranty, regardless of the factory of origin.
